I got a coffee from Starbucks at lunch and noticed that they changed their heat shield wrap to a patriotic Red/Blue.
Within the margin was a quote. At first I thought "Oh, no, not more Obama! Can't I even enjoy a cup of coffee in peace. As I looked closer the words struck me...
"My fellow citizens, our nation is poised for greatness. We must do what we know is right and do it with all our might. Let history say of us, 'These were golden years -- when the American Revolution was reborn, when freedom gained new life, when America reached for her best."
The quote is from President Ronald Reagan in his Inaugural Address of 1985.
Quite a contrast from the downer and pessimism of the Obama speech yesterday. Oh how far our American leadership has fallen.
“dont go to starbucks.”
I was using a gift card
The Party is controlled by 1960s New Left radical street rabble and their ideological issue. It's been modified a little by the "Third Way," I believe.
Their America -- and I remember them saying it, including Hillary and President Obama -- is the future America. True "patriotism" is their criticism because only they want to make America "better."
I totally agree that discourse is unless and the only option we have is humor.. laugh at the poor bastards.
Lowerys prayer was so off the wall, I found it impossible to be offended by it. It was like watching a bit from a rerun of Flip Wilson or Laugh In.

Only with much less humor. His comment of “ work for that day when black will not be asked to get in back, when brown can stick around ... when yellow will be mellow ... when the red man can get ahead, man; and when white will embrace what is right” says it all. What man ain’t right no how no time. I found that comment racist along with most everything else he implied.
Garde la Foi, mes amis! Nous nous sommes les sauveurs de la République! Maintenant et Toujours!
(Keep the Faith, my friends! We are the saviors of the Republic! Now and Forever!)

What man aint right no how no time.

Well that was supposed to say “WHITE man ain’t right no how no time.”
We did and her name is Sarah Palin, and like Reagan the media attacked her without mercy.
I agree with that statement, but ... it doesn't fully express the present circumstances. Perhaps mere words cannot. Washington DC is filled to bursting with small people. They strut in groups, they trot forward when cameras arrive, they tug the knots straight on their dark red power neckties. They pronounce. They pontificate. They are wisdom. Proof of their wisdom lies bound together with their election. Were they not wise and capable, they would not have been elected. They can now do all things. They know and understand. They are tall and mighty, like the Washington Monument.
But from a distance, with perspective, others see their stature. Small men and women, with cramped minds and crabbed ways of thought.
Those we call democrats plot evil. They have discovered that the Constitution says what they tell us it says. These have learned that, in the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.
Those we call republicans, with few exceptions, stupidly watch. Some are happy to help with the evil.
In all cases, they have come to believe their own deceptive words.

"His heart?" That must be one mighty small flag.
What a coward.
In all its forms it is no less and always our Nation's Flag for crying out loud, not some sundry semaphore for him or anyone else to use to send a coded message and earn a BS merit badge.
It was racist, but it was too funny to get upset about. I’m still giggling about it three days later. Compared to the truly vicious Rev. Wright, Lowery was pattycake stuff.
Let the other side be the perpetually offended victims. They’re better at it.
