President Commutes Sentences for Ramos & Compean on Final Day of Office
U.S. Border Control [usbc@usbc.org] ^ | 01/19/2009 | Edward I. Nelson

Dear XXXX:

After making them suffer two long and painful years in solitary confinement in a maximum security prison, President Bush, on his very last day of office, having received more than five million emails, letters, postcards and telephone calls from citizens all across the country, finally commuted the sentences of Ignacio "Nacho" Ramos and Jose Compean, two brave and decorated Border Patrol agents, improperly charged with the non-crime of using a firearm as they stopped a drug dealer from bringing in more than 700 pounds of narrcotics into the U.S.

Please accept my thanks for your great effort in working for the release of these two men who can now reunite with their families and begin their lives over again.

Edward I. Nelson, Chairman Chairman U.S. Border Control 8180 Greensboro Drive, #1070 McLean, VA 22012 ednelson@usbc.org www.usbc.org

You mean you haven’t wondered why Compean tried to take his head off with a shotgun instead of cuffing him?

Not until March 20. Why not today?

Good question. Maybe so they can be once again put in the general prison population to be beaten.

Snort — the DEMs will make sure they have the right to vote, along with the millions of illegals that they tried to prevent from entering the country!

No, I haven't wondered that.

I would venture a guess that had Compean REALLY been trying to 'take his head off with a shotgun,' his head would have been a gooey pulp.

Is there a point to your BS or are you simply an anal orifice most of the time?

Anyone here ever wonder why none of the other Border Patrol agents on the scene fired at the fleeing suspect?

Why don't you just run over to the scumbag DA's office and ask?...

Maybe its because there were already other agents firing at the PERP!? and it would be a little over kill, but hopefully the other agents have learned their lesson and improved their aim so this doesn't happen to them... we can only hope.

That’s OK... they can earn a lot more jack in the private sector and/or Conservative movement as American Heroes.

I hope so...but there are many GOP Rhinos (the pro-illegals) who supported the wrongful conviction....you should have heard Brit Hume try to justify their conviction today (and people think Hume is a conservative?)

Hopefully they will get a lot of support from real Americans...for the commutation does not allow them to return to law enforcement

This is probably the best he can do. As Governor he believed in justice served thru the courts. I don’t any more but I’m not him. This is a whole lot better than nothing though. They can continue the fight from home if people continue to support them.

You’re right - better than nothing but I’m very pleased that these men will be released from jail to go back to their families.

When I click on the link to the page there is NOTHING about a commutation. The last article is 1/18/09.

Why would they even want to go back to the border patrol?

None did. None of them walked over and arrested the wounded mule either. Instead they turned their back on him and let him escape across the river in to Mexico. Oh yes. He was down on the US side. They all knew that the bullethole in him was evidence of their criminal act.

When this was announced on the radio news today it was prefaced with: ...And a subject dear to the conservative fringe... Hume knows where things are going. He doesn't want to be wackoized.

You are correct about squandering so many chances on so many issues.

We old timers here were so disgusted with "the bent one" that we were ready to be snookered into believing that a man who always wore a suit in the oval office, didn't cheat on his wife, and told us he was a conservative was a man of principle. We were wrong.

History will judge him as an arrogant pretender who wiped out the GOP and gave us BO. What a legacy, George !

That's because it was an email alert from them. They haven't updated their page yet.

Grassfire.org also sent an email alert and they haven't updated their page either.

Good on ya' for checking however.

Commuted sentence??? I think this ltill leaves them as convicted felons

True. They are convicted felons. They are convicted felons because they were convicted of breaking the law. Bush appropriately mitigated their sentence in light of the mitigating circumstance.

OK. I went to Drudge and he has a link to an article. I say God Bless President Bush for these commutations.

Bush commutes sentences of former US border agents

You are just wrong if you think Compean is innocent. You have obviously not read any of the testimony in the case. You would just rather believe what you hear and prove your lack of upbringing by resorting to name calling.

Ramos and Compean were on the scene first...and Aldrete-Davila (the illegal alien drug dealer)had already fled by the time other agents arrived.

They did not pursue Aldrete-Davila further because he had left the van behind. They were probably thinking there were either more illegals in the van, or, contraband. Usually, with a van illegally entering from Mexico into the US...there are more than just one illegal in there

Awww... Why don’t you just head on over to the border and give the rest of ‘em a big ‘ole hug... maybe start a new holiday like “Hug and illegal alien drug smuggling law breaker” day... Hey wait a minute... which side of the border are you on?

What a coward. The least he could have done was pardon the guys and get rid of the offense. His boy Sutton is one of the most loathsome creatures on the planet ( may an illegal do horrible things to his family and then piss down his throat)
