I’m going to rant a little bit.
My niece just married a democrat. His mom was the first female superior court judge in Texas. He is fairly well off. My niece and her husband are in their early 20s, and they are fairly well off. They got married in April, and they have already been to Europe, on a cruise, skiing, and to Las Vegas several times.
He voted for Obama and is a big supporter. I know that he and my niece don’t do any community service. They have the time, but they are too busy partying and vacationing to volunteer at anything.
Then you have my husband and I who have sacrificed a ton so that I could be a stay at home mom. My husband doesn’t have any time to do any community service, but I do. I work in my kids school, help at church, and have been a girl scout leader and now a Gems leader.
It just went with the job of being a mom. I’ve never thought anything about doing community service. It was never a big deal. I’ve always helped other people if I had the time. That’s just the way I was raised.
I hate the focus on community service like it is some noble cause.

The difference is that when you served and did your part, you helped build the community. Obama wants you to serve so that the community will help build you!
