The confirmation hearing for Eric Holder, the attorney general nominee, did not live up to expectations. In advance of the hearing, Senator Arlen Specter (R-PA) (in a floor speech and public statements) and a raft of news reports set out the details of Holders involvement in controversial Clinton-era pardons and identified the main issue for his confirmation: could he be relied upon to resist political pressure and act with independence as the countrys chief law enforcement officer? But at the hearing it soon became evident that the Republicans did not have the stomach for a full-blown fight.
When the hearing opened on Thursday, Holder anticipated their arguments at the onset of the hearings and began with an apology for his involvement in the Marc Rich scandal, dubbing it the most searing experience Ive ever had as a lawyer. ..

"reasonable one" huh!
No big surprise a liberal thinks it's reasonable to free domestic terrorists.
I'm almost surprised there is a pubbie with a set in the Congress to actually ask such a damning question
What’s got into Spector?
His reelection is two years away. Will he run? What’s his health?
Maybe he feels guilty for prior lapses in ... judgement.
Probably not.
Enough. Specter and all these RINOS have got to go. Out with all of them.
Holder doesn’t care if Americans lives get lost because waterboarding is considered torture. Holder DOESN’T CARE. They don’t give a damn.
I'm shocked...SHOCKED!!!
The Pubbies are rolling over faster than Webb Hubbell did for Clinton.
Now we get the same view as before spineless pubbies at work.
I wonder if the pubbies are speaking with one voice and saying to the RATS, “Here, you think it’s easy? Knock yourself out.” And then hoping the RATS fall flat on their face.
I doubt that will happen. However, if the RATS piss off enough of their adoring followers, they may find the blowback to be killer.
Republicans haven’t had a stomach for a fight in years. If the Republican Party hopes to survive, its leadership will have to come from outside of Washington, and it will have to recognize that the media is the real enemy. Cut off the media head, and the Democrats will scatter, but that will never happen as long as we are lead by gutless wonders.
Not a bad thought, but I don't think the pubbies are that smart. They proved that when they re-elected Boehner as minority leader.
Hoping that the Rats will fall flat on their face, without standing on principle, will send the Republican Party to the dustbin of history.
I'm tired of voting against Democrats and liberals. I long to vote for the principles that made this country great.
More cogent conservative thought emanates from FreeRepublic than from the learned political elites that suck off the teat of Washington DC.
And that doubly applies to Peggy Noonan and Kathleen Parker!
*********The Pubbies are rolling over faster than Webb Hubbell did for Clinton.**********
Or rolling over faster than Hillary Clinton did for Web Hubbell.
You said it!
The visuals are making my eyes bleed...
I believe Sessions has announced he will vote to confirm Holder...!
