A Day in the Life of President Bush (many photos): 1-16-09

More lasts today …

This morning President & Mrs. Bush departed the White House for Camp David, Maryland, where they will spend their last weekend as the First Couple before Tuesday’s inauguration.

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice gave her final press conference today at the State Department in Washington. She also met with Israel’s Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni. Dr. Rice’s last official act as Secretary of State was signing a memorandum with Foreign Minister Livni that will help prevent arms smuggling to terrorists in Gaza.

And today Press Secretary Dana Perino delivered the Administration’s final press briefing (Transcript). Dana took time to pay tribute to her predecessor Tony Snow and to all the members of the White House press staff. But one name was conspicuously absent from her remarks.

Q Dana, you mentioned Ari and Tony, but I don't think I heard you mention Scott. Was that a slight or was that -- was anything deliberate --

Dana: No harm meant, I just didn't mention him.

What did you think of his comments [on MSNBC] last night?

Dana: I didn't bother watching them.

Enjoy your visit to Sanity Island

I second that. These pictures over the past Bush years have been just superb. All photos were done with skill and the subjects were easy because they are people of class and know how to behave as such.Wonderful job and this sort of daily lift was just what we needed when Bush was being beaten daily.
Now we wonder how we are going to make it though the next 4 years. I am getting out my black mourning band for Tuesday.

Note the date on the box on the left.

The impact of seeing the date on the box was very strong, Jonny, and I had that proverbial heart-in-the-throat moment. Laura already has a book deal, right? I hope very, very much that GWB and RBC both write books, too. I really want their insights into the events of that time to be part of the complete public record.

Many thanks to you and Snugs for all these years of wonderful photos. They have brightened my days and I’m thankful we’ll have them archived for the bleak days ahead. I will miss this good and decent man every day from here on. May God bless him and Laura and grant them many years of happiness.

I too hope they write books and I hope they take off the diplomatic gloves and tell the whole truth.
I just saw the train going through Edgewood MD with The 0ne and Biden...and it makes me sick..it is going at the funeral pace so everyone can see him as he smiles and waves. What came to mind were two things...first, if Bush had done this at the eve of his inauguration, there would have been even more howling by the media than at his price of was it 43 million for the whole inauguration. But this fraud is costing 4 times that and not a peep of frustration from the media at this.
The second thought that came to mind is that lord forbid someone murder this fraud while he is in office..or even if he died from smoking in bed..there would be this train going back to IL just like it did for Lincoln.
I have none of the on TV..I found a good Jimmy Stewart movie!

I can’t take anymore of the non-stop homage before he is even sworn in. I’m canceling my cable on Monday. Even Fox has become Obama all the time. Anything I need to see, I can get online and it’ll save me a lot of money!

I won't watch a single moment of Obama's inauguration or time in office unless it's for a truly massive piece of breaking news.

The second thought that came to mind is that lord forbid someone murder this fraud while he is in office..or even if he died from smoking in bed.

Absolutely spot on. We've have 45 years of myth-making and lionizing of John F. Kennedy just because he was assassinated. In life he was AT BEST a mediocre president who was in office just over 2 years and 10 months. Heaven only knows what the Dem myth-makers will do if Obama dies in office. So, although I despise the very ground he walks on, I wish Obama a long and healthy life.

Cavuto’s commentary last night encouraging President Bush to give a final speech like an Italian was terrific! imo, Cavuto truly likes and respects President Bush and he appreciates that W kept us safe for 7 years. Cavuto outlined all the good things done by this President and he said W should remind all that on 9-11 we weren’t worrying about money, we were worrying about something more important....our lives. Cavuto went on to say, in essence....President Bush has too much class and is too humble to talk about all the good he’s done.....but, Cavuto said he’s not......Thank you, Neil!!!

I just found out that you can order Domino’s pizza delivery on the net. I’m happy til spring - just have to make sure I order veggies & fruit for a balanced diet.

And I’m doing my part to keep Domino’s delivery people in jobs. :-)
