Bill would pull plug on reloading
The Standard Journal (Milton, PA) ^ | January 14, 2009 | Coni Marie Sheridan

Reloading ammunition in Pennsylvania may become a thing of the past if a bill currently in state legislature is passed.

According to the National Rifle Association-Institute for Legislative Action (NRA-ILA), “in the last year, so-called “encoded” or “serialized” ammunition bills have been introduced in 13 states — Arizona, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee and Washington.”

The bills, if passed, would require all bullets and cartridge cases to be marked with a code and registered to the owners in a computerized database, therefore, reloading would be outlawed.

“It (the bill) would eliminate reloading because there would be no way to serial it (the ammunition),” Rollin Anderson of Anderson’s Gun Shop in Watsontown said. “A lot of guys that handload (reload) are not happy about it.”

Anderson sells a lot of materials for ammunition reloading or handloading, which is when you reuse the cartridges to make your own ammunition.

“It would hurt a lot of industries,” he explained. There are so many components involved with reloading that would no longer be needed if the bill is passed, he said.

“Reloading is cost effective and is more accurate,” he added. “It (the bullet) holds a better pattern.”

Ammunition you already own could also be at risk as many of the bills state that people would be required to forfeit all personally owned “non-encoded” ammunition after a certain date. Therefore, reloading would actually be deemed illegal.

“I think it’s ridiculous!” commented State Rep. Merle Phillips. “They’d take away reloading which a lot of gun owners do to save money. It makes no sense.”

Along with encoding and registering ammunition, there would also be a five cent tax on each bullet sold, therefore, a minimum $2.50 increase per box would be enforced.

“People would still buy the loaded ammo, but it’s a lot more expensive (than reloading),” Anderson said.

According to the Ammunition Accountability Web site, the legislation was prompted by a “newly forming group” that includes “gun crime victims, industry representatives, law enforcement, public officials, public policy experts and more.”

However, Angus McClellan of the NRA-ILA Grassroots said, “this is a proposal by a commercial enterprise that has a patent on technology to imprint the codes. They are trying to create a demand for their product by making it mandatory. The owner of the company admitted on NRA News that his lobbying firm put up the whole thing.”

Sample legislation obtained from the Ammunition Accountability Web site states, “Bullet coding is a new and effective way for law enforcement to quickly identify persons on interest in gun crime investigations.”

State Rep. Merle Phillips disagrees.

“Criminals can still steal guns and ammunition,” he said.

Trooper Matt Burrows of the state police agrees with Phillips and said, “It (the encoding) would help, but I don’t know to what degree or how it would be implemented.”

According to McClellan, the NRA-ILA has been successfully fighting the passage of this legislation so far.

He said, “These bills are pending and will likely die at the end of the sessions, however, they will likely be reintroduced next session and sessions thereafter and will certainly pose significant threats.”

Anything to disarm the American people is worth a try. How else can we move forward to a one world government?

I just heard that Henry Kissenger has been working to that end for decades. I suspect that every administration since Nixon have had the same goal.

America was a good idea.

Ronald Reagan ended the Cold War.

The Democrats have now revived it, except it's a war on our own soil between the Patriots and the Progressives. The only way the Progressives can win is to disarm the Patriots.

The question is, will we let them disarm us with nothing more than angry Internet posts as a response?

I am just posing the question, as I have little hope for the future with these Traitors in charge.

It's not the bill, it's how fast they are coming. Hussein hasn't even been sworn in yet, and the Dems are going apesh@T.

We won't last 4 years....

Me too. If the day comes where someone is taking my freedom, I have no problem going out in a blaze of Glory to meet my Maker. What a sad sad day it would be to have confiscations start. The libs have no idea how many would fight such an attempt. I don’t even want to live in a country who disarms it’s people. That’s the first thing Hitler did. If that comes down the pike at us, there will be no more veil of order here, the whole society will shatter into something none of us would recognize.

The way I see things now, they have a problem, and not gun owners and reloaders. It’s like tower demanding a pilot to be forced to fly in a storm so as to ease traffic... uhuh, no can do.

When we have backs to our walls, economic meltdown, threats of famines, animals roaming the streets, crimes and what not, there is no way this is going to go. It’s too much nonsense.

Of course they do this stuff in Africa, like put kids in “orphanages” to starve instead of letting them feed themselves, but this is not Africa and it is not fundable/enforceable like it is in Africa. They can bloody try all they want.

In a way I wish them success so that they can choke on their own vomit and yokes on their own, without me surviving for the benefit of their own protection in the end, but, meanwhile, I know to make better decisions than to listen to laws set up with the help of young brainwashed college retards and RINOs too stupid for their looks it corrupts them more than socialists themselves who are at the bottom of this barrel already.

The Traitors have proven they can ignore the Constitutional contract which We The People had assuring US to be the actual sovereigns of this Republic. With that, they have succeeded in ending our sovereignty, and now they will do as they damned well please so long as law enforcement and the military follow orders. It was just an illusion that the SCOTUS held the Constitution as the law of the land. Consider your sovereignty usurped.

They know full well that banning reloading has nothing to do with fighting crime. They are Marxists who want to impose a police state. They want a Soviet-style dictatorship, so they want to make it difficult for the people to rebel and overthrow a dictatorship. It is as simple as that.

The swearing in of Barry Obama will effectively abrogate the Constitution. Won’t matter then what is repugnant. We The People will be ruled not rulers.

I am prepared for the worst. As are many. The Few, the Patriotic, the only real Americans left. If Zero really is as bad as we think, and really screws up, we only have to get through 4 years before there is a real conservative in office. I like the moose huntress from AK. “I am Sarah Palin”.

This law targets sportsmen pure and simple.

Beg to differ, this law targets all our ability to resist tyranny by incrementally removing access to arms and our ability to resist. These libs don't give a hoot about us hunting. Hunting is no threat to their plans, defending the Constitution does.

Isn't the scum, Murtha from PA? ... Didn't Joe 'Plugs' Biden diss coal even while in coal country? ... Isn't Biden the vice president elect and Jack Murtha still a favored son in PA?

Let's face the reality. The SCOTUS allowed a man into their midst and privately entertained him who is under one suit after another and one about to go to conference at SCOTUS as per Roberts bringing it up Friday. That is judicial malfeasance. Do we really think such sold out justices will rule in any way negatively when they have displayed unethical behavior at this crucial juncture?
