I used to work for Nasa as a planetologist and you are so right. Every time they want to make points with their paymasters in Congress they announce life or water on Mars.

Furthermore there is no reason to think the methane came from a living source. The further out you go from the sun in the solar system the more endogenous volatiles such as methane there are.

There could be life on Mars, and there are good places to look they have not gone to, but this methane thing is a crock. Don’t you just love government science?
