On an earlier thread, same subject I posted
Gays in the Military, may not be a good idea, but have to say, they have been and are in the Military today.
I see a number of them in my neighborhood.
Marine officers, Navy officers, one an Aeronautical Engineer and enlisted.
I know a WWII Marine Vet, who served on Guadalcanal who is gay and other vets.
Not saying they are correct, but they are currently serving.
The military is but a reflection of society and look at where society is right now when it comes to gays. Every year more and more Fortune 500 companies extend benefits to domestic partners. Discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation is prohibited in practically every environment. Young recruits today, the E-7s and O-5s of tomorrow, have been raised in a culture of acceptance where they've seen friends, family members and co-workers come out of the closet to little fanfare.
We knew Obama would change the policy. This isn't coming as a big surprise to anyone currently serving. In many commands, gays have been more or less out of the closet for a while now. Every command has gays and everyone knows who they are. Most simply don't care anymore these days.
Candidly, I’m not concerned about gay men and women serving and doing their jobs rather I’m concerned about the typical pattern of the homosexual ‘activists’ disrupting a traditional requirement of trust, respect, loyalty and patriotism.
