Deflation is a "macroeconomic" phenomenon. You can actually have deflation with an increasing cost of living. Social Security and federal government retirements have a "cost of living" clause, not a "deflation" clause.

I know this is a bit tricky to understand but you'll all find out.

Now, about the Reagan administration's proposal to balance the federal budget with a $100 co-payment on federal employee's medical insurance, it was actually something like $120.

Didn't do a doggone thing, but I do remember the money. That was an INFLATIONARY period and we had two babies around the house, and the power bill had just gone up.

Definitely remember that one.

My mom says they took back her SS increase recently because of deflation.
