I completely agree. Where were these ‘good German Heroes” in 1940,41 or 42. By 1944 even a blind man could read the writing on the wall. Sorry but these guys were out to save their butts before they had to face the Soviets in Germany.

One of the main plotters was Erich von Witzellben. He plotted to overthrow Hitler in 1938, 1939, and was involved in most of the other plots against Hitler as well. So, while some of the plotters were Johny come lately’s, many of them had resisted the NAZI’s from before the start of WWII.

You called it. The motivation of the plotters to assassinate Hitler was to seek an end to the war because, although they WERE Nazi's they were not delusional, and knew the war was lost.

It had nothing to do with compassion for anybody but themselves and their family and possibly “Deutchland”; certainly not compassion for the Jews.
