FALSE - water properly filtered and bottled in PET plastic bottles has a shelf life of at least two years. There will be some water vapor loss through the container wall as well as CO2 and N2 gas exchange. Data on sterile filtered water storage in PET plastic, 1000mL containers go to over five years with no change in pH, clarity, taste or odor. Even better storage conditions and shelf life is possible in thicker walled polypropylene containers.

I know this to be true, 30 years experience in the pharmaceutical industry.

And what if the water is not properly filtered nor stored in properly sealed PET plastic bottles? I think keeping liquid and food supplies out of sunlight is generally a good idea.
