“In this season of new resolutions, Americans would do well to rethink their perceptions of Jimmy Carter. President Carter has suffered the misfortune of having his legacy almost entirely shaped by his political enemies rather than by objective reality or a basic sense of American fairness.”
YHGTBSM. I lived through the Carter presidency. What a total debacle.
You obviously did better than us. You lived through it; we only survived it.
Nearly a year without any job, other than what I could scrounge on a day to day basis. Part time or temp work most of the rest of his presidency. Fortunately, we were rural, with cheap rent, 3/4 acre lots, and good neighbors as badly off as us. We pooled resources, and raised our own eggs, meat, (Chickens, ducks, rabbits, a steer, and a pig; the goat thing just didn't work out.) and veggies for the most part.
