A Mat-Su drug investigator and the union representing Alaska State Troopers are alleging political meddling in the Sherry Johnston drug case, including a delay in serving the search warrant because of the November election.
Johnston is the mother of Levi Johnston, who became nationally known in September when Gov. Sarah Palin and her husband, Todd, announced their daughter, Bristol, was pregnant and he was the father. Palin was running for vice president while Sherry Johnston was under investigation.
Alaska Public Safety Commissioner Joe Masters and troopers director Col. Audie Holloway vigorously dispute that there was anything irregular in how this case was handled.
"We worked very hard to make sure we conducted it just as fairly and as normally as any other investigation," Holloway said.
That's not what Kyle Young, a troopers drug investigator who was involved in the case, wrote in an e-mail last week to all members of the Public Safety Employees Association, the union that represents troopers and other law enforcement officers around the state.

Young, speaking through union officials, declined to comment for this story. But John Cyr, executive director of the union, said it's clear to him that the investigation was handled differently because of who Johnston is.
"This really does smack of political favoritism. And if that be the case, it's another example of the Palin administration's direct influence on the public safety unit," Cyr said.

So Johnston was not arrested and charged for selling drugs...wait she was...the issue is that it wasn’t done before the election?

If they have a direct accusation to make do it if not they need to shut up. This is beyond ridiculous at this point.

Young wrote that after it became clear who Johnston is, "this case became anything but normal."And further:"It was not allowed to progress in a normal fashion, the search warrant service WAS delayed because of the pending election and the Mat Su Drug Unit and the case officer were not the ones calling the shots," Young wrote.
Tension between the governor and the public safety employees union is not new. The union and Palin battled over the governor's July removal of Walt Monegan as public safety commissioner, and the allegations she pressured public safety officials to fire a trooper who was her ex-brother-in-law. Palin appointed Masters as the public safety commissioner in September.
As soon as the news broke this morning about Bill Richardson-gate, I knew the left would dredge up something about SP but I don’t believe they can manufacture enough “scandals” to keep up over the next 4 yrs with the CCS.
1) ‘Rat union thugs wanted it to hit the fan the week before the election, so that with the energetic aid of the Mediascum this “October surprise” could have brought the Demagogues to the historic landslide they were longing for......
2) Probably more likely that this woman received extra close attention BECAUSE her son was involved with Bristol Palin.
3) How stooopid is this woman to be conducting drug deals when her son and the Palins were thrust into such an intense media spotlight? Is SHE a plant by the Demagogues? I’d like to know the whole history, how long she’s been dealing, was this fall’s activity any different than her previous dealing, etc. Seems awfully incredible that this could have gone on while the Mediascum were swarming all over Wasilla.
4) This DOES NOT REFLECT UPON SARAH AND TODD PALIN IN ANY WAY. There’s not the slightest hint that they ever knew anything about this, or had anything to do with anything. Even if the whole story is as being presented (always a big “if” when dealing with lib-scum media and unions), this has NOTHING to do with Sarah and Todd Palin except that it happens to involve an acquaintance who may or may not (who knows?) become Bristol Palin’s MIL.

1. Why did the State Troopers get involved? Sherry Johnston lives in a City (City Police), and probably a County (Sheriff).
2. Why did the State Troopers go in daytime and take the ADN reporter and photographer with them--IF this was a normal arrest?
Unions and the ‘RAT party have a symbiotic relationship.
Since she was charged with improper acquisition of prescriptions ~ we don't even know if she received the drugs, or that there's any real basis to the charges. This script thing can take a lot of different directions, and good intentions can be viewed by SP's political enemies as crimes.
We frankly don't have enough information to go one way or the other on Mrs. Johnston or to even state exactly what it was she did beyond the most obscure of actions.
What you need to do is go back and get some references to the actual charges first. Then go to the sources of the information you've used to write your post. Then demand they explain themselves.
