Here is what I’ve located thus far for the OBama and language.....If she was getting up early to teachhim English...It appears that English was treated as the second language.
From multiple sources often repeated:

Barack Obama Sr. (Obama’s father) must have fluently spoken Luo as his mother tongue, Kiswahili and English among other languages.
Ann also worked in Pakistan in the mid 80’s and knew a smattering of that language. By the mid 80’s Maya was living with her grandparents while she attended Punahou, Ann was free to come and go as she pleased. She was fluent in the language spoken in Indonesia.
