No, I think that if this worst-case (for him) scenario had been established prior to the election, it might have stopped him. But the fact of his having been elected by the people gives him a great deal of standing as the next POTUS.

Unfortunately I believe you are right. Despite his disqualification for the office, I believe the SCOTUS will bow to the “will of the people” and just avoid ruling on his eligibility. More likely the question will continue to produce a larger cloud over him as it festers over his adminstration and will contribute to “throwing the bastard out” in four years.
