I’ve had five children and nursed for long periods of time, the longest to almost age 4. 6 does seem long but if it works for her family, so what? Breast milk is nutritious and has many health benefits. It’s cows’ milk that is unnatural, except for calves.
I find 6 years a little long to be nursing a child but I nursed my son for 3 years and I’m sure many here would say that was way too long.
Yes, it is the decision of this particular family. It is pretty safe to bet that none of us would have had much to say about the subject if the mom hadn’t gone and told ABC news all about it. At that point, we are free to use our common sense and make a judgment.
People have been drinking cow’s milk for thousands of years and survived.

I've always been amazed that anyone ever started drinking cows milk in the first place. How would you like to be the first one to say, "I'm gonna squeeze me one of them critters, and drink whatever comes out!" And did they learn to pick the cows over the bulls by trial and error?
I also long wondered about the first person to ever eat a lobster or a crab...

“but if it works for her family, so what?”
The view of breasts as sexual is innate. It is not imposed by society. When a childs brain matures to a certain degree it’s time for mom to keep her clothes on. 6 is to old for ‘nummies’ (sheesh).
