Each successful Black person in the USA world marketplace deserves a trophy because each has had to deal with daily career aspects, daily living aspects, and daily racism.
No: he means it, he believes it, and so do thousands of others, and so do so many white’s plagued with white guilt.
Of course whites dont understand this, It’s a black thing, caused mainly by being told this from birth.
It must be terrible to have this inferiority complex drilled into you daily.
You are completely correct.
Here’s an example: I work with a woman of mixed race who was raised by her white mother (her father was black and he passed away when she was quite young). She is amazing. The thing about her that makes her stand out finally seeped into my consciousness about two years ago: She does not have a racial chip on her shoulder because that is not what she was taught. As a result, she is going to go far in her career and she’ll do it on her own without help from affirmative action, etc. Everyone is impressed by her pure individuality—not tainted by what we have come to expect with black professionals who are not quite up-to-speed but who “got there” based on the race card.
Part of the black culture, as you point out, is damaging and destructive. The likes of Jesse Jackson still feed on it and it is a kind of cultural corruption based on controlling people. Tragic.
