Small earthquakes in Yellowstone

YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK, Wyo. (AP) - The University of Utah Seismograph Stations report a swarm of small earthquakes in Yellowstone National Park.

The university says the quakes of magnitude 3.5 and lower have been occurring beneath Yellowstone Lake, five to nine miles south-southeast of Fishing Bridge, a park landmark.

Maybe a small volcanic eruption under the lake.
Would do those rare trout some good.

But the caldera has a history of lots of small eruptions leading up to and following a large blast, and the cycle lasts quite a long time.

No problem. 1.3 million years ago.

Yellowstone erupts about every 600,000 years. It’s about 620,000 years since the last one. Who knows. Might erupt in 100,000 or maybe tommorow.
