A Somali Islamist hardliner who lives in exile in Eritrea has said the war against the Somali interim government will continue "even if Ethiopian troops withdraw," Radio Garowe reports. Sheikh Hassan Dahir Aweys, leader of the Eritrea-based ARS faction, said on Thursday that he is "doubtful" that Ethiopian forces will withdraw from Somalia. "The men who returned to Mogadishu made friends with the enemy, and I believe the enemy is using them," Sheikh Aweys said, while referring to Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, chairman of the Alliance for Re-liberation of Somalia's (ARS) Djibouti-based faction. He described the enemy as "Ethiopian soldiers and AMISOM troops," while referring to a 3,400-strong African Union peacekeeping force from Uganda and Burundi. He indicated that the fighting would not stop if Ethiopian troops decide to withdraw, saying: "A new war will start against the Somali government and its partners." Sheikh Aweys rejected a report by the Brussels-based International Crisis Group (ICG), which called for Al Shabaab and the Eritrea-based ARS faction to be included in the Djibouti peace process. "We will not accept this [joining peace process] because it is dishonor," Sheikh Aweys said, while condemning the Djibouti Agreement as "not in the interests of Somalia." ...In 2006, Sheikh Sharif and Sheikh Aweys were the twin leaders of the Islamic Courts Union (ICU) that captured Mogadishu from U.S.-backed warlords... Sheikh Sharif, who leads the ARS-Djibouti faction, returned to Mogadishu yesterday to promote the Djibouti Agreement and make preparations for the eventual withdrawal of Ethiopian troops.

Sheikh Abdulkadir Somow, spokesman for Sufi group Ahlu Sunnah Wal Jamee'a, told Friday a press conference in Mogadishu that Al Shabaab fighters destroyed the graves of Sheikh Nur Hussein and two of his sons.
"It is prohibited to bother a Muslim person, living or dead, in Islam," Sheikh Somow said.
Earlier Friday, Al Shabaab insurgents destroyed the graves in Jilib, a district in Middle Jubba region.
An unidentified fighter who spoke for the insurgents confirmed the report, adding: "We believe people were worshipping the deadâ¦and so we destroyed the graves."
But Sheikh Somow urged restraint on the part of Sufi followers, while appealing to Al Shabaab to "stop destroying graves and mosques."
"Non-Somalis took part in the destruction of Sheikh Nur Hussein's grave, according to locals," Sheikh Somow said.
It is the second time this month that Al Shabaab insurgents have been blamed for destroying graves revered by followers of the Sufi sect, a group with many supporters across Somalia.
Locals say relatives and supporters regularly pray at the graves of revered sheikshs, following centuries of mystical tradition that is prohibited under Islamic law.

Islamic hardliner? I’ve never heard of an Islamic SOFTIE.
That's going to be rather difficult to follow, considering there are something like 73 sects and they all hate each other...
B-b-b-but I thought Islam was a religion of Peace, not Piece(s)
Yeah... heh... the Sufis are particularly unpopular among other Moslems. The only thing the bastards all have in common is their hatred for and systematic persecution and murder of non-Moslems.
Not if there’s any livestock in the vicinity, that’s for sure.
Which is understandable since, IMO, the Sufi's are the only ones who ever lent any credibility (to Moslems).
