Vatican calls for end to Middle East violence

The Vatican’s spokesman has urged Israelis and Palestinians to renounce violence and seek a peaceful solution to their conflict after Israel launched air strikes on the Gaza Strip in response to rocket fire.

The Rev. Federico Lombardi told Vatican Radio on Saturday that Israel’s offensive will be a “very serious blow” to Hamas but could also cause many innocent victims and damage peace prospects in the Holy Land.

Lombardi said all sides “must look for a different way out, even though it seems impossible.”

Interesting in that it is not a complete condemnation of Israel on the attack.

You must understand that this is an absolutely horrible situation for the "international community", the tranzis and the MSM.

If this operation ends up somewhat like the last Lebanon war, we will see a total landslide for Likud, Israel Our Home, and other nationalist parties in the upcoming election. Oh, the horror.

So, then Kadima (Olmerde, Livni, Barak, Peres) must look like they are winning, so expect a rather muted response from the international community, unless the palis can come up with some really gory pictures of mutilated bodies.

They could use these for a starter.

I find this part of the quote interesting as well ...

The Rev. Federico Lombardi told Vatican Radio on Saturday that Israel’s offensive will be a “very serious blow” to Hamas

I don't recall EVER hearing anyone from the Vatican admit military action could cause a serious blow to an adversary threatening your destruction ...

Seems to be saying, "Pray for a miracle". After 60 years of this crap, what hasn't been tried?
