The main thing wrong with what Kitt did there was to unload on Lady Bird when she should have directed her ire at LBJ himself. Lady Bird had no control or say-so over the mismanagement of the war by her husband. In fact, she deserves a special place in heaven for suffering and enduring a lifetime with that evil bastard...
Yes, Lady Bird was a truly good woman. I'm sure she had no idea what she was getting into when she married LBJ - just thought he was her last chance.
My FIL was a career Secret Service Agent assigned to Lady Bird's detail.
I wish I could remember the exact details of the story, but apparently, when LBJ died, it was late in the afternoon. The protocol was to have him declared dead by a certain doctor before he was moved (I assume emergency personnel had tried to revive him) and the Dr. would not be able to make it to the ranch until the next morning.
That night, the Secret Service Agents assigned to keep watch over the body, ordered a pizza and placed it on his chest while they partook of it.
So long Lyndon, you were a sorry bastard.
