Jesus did say to pray for our enemies.
You missed my point, which was that He told us to love our own enemies, not His:
Matt 5:44
44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
KJV
Rom 12:14
14 Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.
KJV
Rom 12:17-20
7 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.
18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.
19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.
KJV
Correct me if I'm wrong, but to my knowledge the Bible doesn't instruct us to love, forgive or pray for the enemies of God. In fact, it instructs otherwise:
2 John 9-11
9 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.
10 If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:
11 For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.
KJV
You said — “Jesus did say to pray for our enemies.”
Yes, indeed He did. And by *that measure* we can tell here, who are “followers of Jesus” — can’t we...
