Did McCain Botch the Sarah Palin Pick?
US News & World Report - Washington Whispers ^ | 2008-12-23 | Paul Bedard

The Sarah Palin backlash—or comeback—is underway. Misused by the McCain campaign, then dissed by anonymous McCainiacs as a haughty diva, those who think the senator and his staff are to blame are starting to speak out. And we're not talking about those who traveled with the Alaska governor who quickly took a shining to her and chafed when the McCain team botched her coming out on the campaign trail. Now I'm hearing from key Republicans on Capitol Hill and GOP pollsters who believe that the McCain campaign should have put her out to talk about energy and political independence—her two best issues—instead of making her the conservative attack dog.

You are exactly right Carolyn, the MSM picked McCain for us because he was a weak candidate.

Of course the drive-bys maneuvered McCain into the nomination. That has long been a premise of Rush Limbaugh. Sure, 'Rats crossed party lines to vote for McCain in the primaries. Still, nobody in the GOP was able to stop McCain from receiving the nomination.

The GOP “not being able to stop the nomination” is quite a bit different from “the GOP picking McCain”.

Technically yes, with the help of the MSM and the democrat crossovers. The same group is trying to destroy our most likely candidates for 2012.

McCain wasn't among my favorite GOP candidates. In fact, being a conservative, I was discouraged when he got the nomination. I only had enthusiasm for the GOP ticket with the selection of Sarah Palin as VP, which gets us back to the thread header.

Yes, crossovers, and the MSM were complicit, but there are a lot of moderate RINOs as well. It is a distinction with a difference, really, but McCain was the failed candidate. I lost even more respect for him after the election when his minions tried to blame the loss on Sarah. Absurd notion. His lame defense of her days after the attacks began are how I'll remember him.

In the beginning, McCain was way down on my list of candidates too, WAY DOWN but when he became the nominee I supported him with money and my vote. I had no other choice. I am seriously afraid of what nObama will do to our country. McCain was the better of our 2 choices.

You’ve got that right. Governor Palin was the new battery in McCain’s dying toy. She electrified his flat campaign. She energized the GOP and conservatives!

And the reason the left is continuing to attack her is her refusal to lay down and play dead.

What the ‘Rats and the reporters don’t understand is she’s *not* going away! She’s a fighter and she knows she has half of America on board. She WILL win in 2012 because she WILL be our candidate and dOpey will continue to unravel as he spins.

The liberals are so scared they will continue to attack her. But the more they fire at her, the more people will see she’s not going anywhere; and she will rise like the Phoenix, representing the good and the righteous in America.

The main reason McCain lost was due to his opting for public finance. Obama spent money like water and recruited new voters and brought them to the polls. In Florida alone, he got 500K new votes and in Nevada 200K new votes. Same story in NC, VA,IN. Even, McCain ran a very good campaign and Sarah worked 24/7 in the battleground states, Obambi would still have won narrowly. It is the electioneering techniques that won him. Hopefully, in 2012 all his brothas and sistahs wake up and find out he is half-white after all.
