If her name were Caroline Schlossberg, her candidacy would be a joke.
History is repeating itself - and this time it’s even more farcical than in 1962, when Eddie McCormack, the state attorney general, uttered his famous put-down of then-29-year-old playboy Ted Kennedy:
“If your name were Edward Moore, your candidacy would be a joke.”
The difference between Massachusetts 1962 and New York 2008 is that Teddy had to run for the office. Forty-six years later, his niece Caroline expects - no, demands - to have a Senate seat handed to her, on a silver platter.
Elections? Kennedys don’t need no stinkin’ elections.
Apparently the U.S. doesn’t have a Senate anymore. We have a House of Lords. Instead of seats, we have peerages.
By now everyone has noticed that all the media hags who were so bent out of shape about Sarah Palin’s alleged lack of experience are touting Caroline’s deep hands-on credentials as . . . honorary chairman of the American Ballet Theater.
Not chairman, mind you. Honorary chairman.
Imagine a petulant, spoiled, rich 8-year-old dropped off with her dissipated relatives for the weekend. Imagine her plaintive cry:
“Uncle Teddy! I’m bored!”
At least out in Illinois, Jesse Jackson Jr. was pressured to pony up $1.5 million for his appointment to a Senate seat. Caroline wanted it the way her family always gets things: on the arm. If this is how they run things in Albany now, give me the Chicago way any day.
I’m sure she’ll be a reliable vote for higher taxes. Kennedys always are, except for when it comes to paying their own, especially estate taxes. Do as they say, not as they do. As Leona Helmsley used to say: Taxes are for little people.
Apparently, so is voting. Caroline’s got better things to do than stand in line at some sweaty precinct with the hoi polloi, enduring the foul breath of the plebeians.
She gets the seat, of course. Her main opponent is the state attorney general, scion of a lesser political dynasty. Andrew Cuomo happens to be the ex-husband of Caroline’s cousin, Kerry Kennedy. In a nice twist, Kerry has been making the case for her cousin on TV: “She’s a mother and a woman!” And you thought Caroline had no qualifications.
“We live in a country where one out of every five girls is sexually assaulted by the time she’s 21.”
Is this a good talking point for any Kennedy, male or female?
Here’s a bit more from Kerry:
“She hasn’t sought money . . . she hasn’t sought fame.” No, all she wants is a crummy Senate seat. The chumps in Congress say it shouldn’t be handed to her? Don’t they know who Caroline is?
Uncle Teddy! She’s bored!
From my vantage point here in the PRNY, the serfs are quite enthusiastic for it. They couldn't put Her Heinous in there fast enough and now they're clamoring for either Caroline Kennedy or Andrew Cuomo, both on the basis of name.
I admit, I used the highest estimate I found which includes both sides.
The facts remain, the left's biggest criticism of Bush are the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Using their yardstick, their martyred darling JFK scores worse by far.
Not to mention the fact that he stole the 1960 election.
JFK is waaaaaay overrated and is another example of the fallacy of liberal mindset. They simply cannot assimilate information into a cogent, intelligent thought.

Heard Kerry Kennedy, THE SLUT, assure the reporter that Ted Kennedy was exerting no influence for Caroline at all.
He was staying out of it completely.
“Not to mention the fact that he stole the 1960 election.”
Yes, but he had to choose LBJ, the biggest crook in Texas, as his running mate so that Texas could stuff the ballot boxes in South Texas/Mexico and help him. Of course, Mayor Daley, the biggest crook in Chicago, also did his part.
The country started falling apart in ‘60 when Nixon let the Democrats steal that election for President.
I like the JFK/Bush comparison to throw in the face of leftists when they start stomping on President Bush.
It always leaves them speechless... it’s as if someone showed them a picture of their granfather molesting an altarboy.
JFK’s record as a President is utter failure after utter failure. The only thing he was highly successful at was getting his brains blown out.
Nothing like a crew of willing morons to be the puppet leaders, and nothing like the Dimocratic Party to provide them and the voters to elevate them.
This is the thing that slays me. They have orgasms over the thought of the Kennedy dynasty continuing to rule over the little people. But they truly cannot see the double standard when the thing they slammed Gov. Palin for (lack of experience) is far worse with Caroline Kennedy. How can anyone with intellectual honesty say that Sarah Palin was not qualified to be VP, but that Caroline Kennedy (a far more powerful position) is qualified? The only conclusion that I can come to is that liberals truly want to be ruled over by hereditary lords, no matter what they claim. Sarah Palin is the polar opposite of that. The Founding Fathers must be spinning at high RPMs right now.
You probably won't believe this but I assure you it is true. I personally have heard, on more than one occasion, women call CSPAN voicing their opinion that the nation owes Caroline Kennedy the Senate seat because of her father’s assassination. All she need do to earn the Senate seat is to ask for it.
There's a weapons-grade "duh" over here with your name on it, Kerry. Whyever would your cousin need to "seek" anything she didn't already have in spades at birth?
In any event, methinks your Freudian slip is showing. Do these lines sound familiar? "And as for fortune and as for fame, I never invited them in... Don't cry for me... Don't keep your distance..."
And here I thought our country already had its Evita.
