No strollers near the Capitol. No tents on the National Mall. None of that Silly String on the parade route.
That's just a sample of the items forbidden from President-elect Barack Obama's inauguration for security reasons. And while many people say the inconvenience is a small price to pay to witness the swearing-in of the nation's first black president, others are scratching their heads, trying to figure out how they will sit, snack, carry diapers or transport tired tots.
Some older people are backing out of their inaugural plans, partly because of a no-chair rule for the parade route. Parenting blogs are abuzz with complaints about the less-than-kid-friendly restrictions. Thermoses, coolers and backpacks are out at both the Capitol and the parade route.
"Of course, they're not going to say, 'no children,"' said Sunny Chanel, a San Francisco-based contributor to Babble.com, a parenting Web site. "But they're definitely not making it easy for parents with smaller children to go."

“Recent History” = three years.
What are they afraid of? I thought the Great One could take care of himself. Those streets belong to the people, not Obama.
So stay home. It will make for a happier day for you and everyone else there.
Someone is really scared.
All potential dictators are PARANOID with self-importance and “security”.
> What are they afraid of? I thought the Great One could take care of himself. Those streets belong to the people, not Obama.
The streets are his now. So are the fighter jets that will fly past. So are the Navy ships. So are the monuments. So is the Grand Canyon and the Mississippi River. So are you.
Heard “Whitey” has to stand in the back of the crowd.
Referring of course to Hubert “Whitey” Whitney.
So long as we believe that.....it’s true. I happen not to believe it....no one owns me. If we allow him to believe that also, we loose. If he goes off the deep end as President, the people need to shut him down at every turn.
No chairs? I wonder about wheel chairs.
Perhaps Holy Hussein Obama will heal the lame.
Or perhaps Joe Biden will tell those in wheel chairs to stand up and walk.
I predict a few “incidents”, because some people just dont know how to act out of the village.
Isn't that because having a baby is a punishment? "I don't want my daughter punished with a baby..." Hail to the Chief.
Notice how they extended booze sales hours until like 4AM, for this entire period around the Inaugural? For an event like...I would have have cut off all booze in the entire district for twenty-four hours.
I just might attend out of sheer curiosity.
I was a campaign ‘04 volunteer. Besides a photo of GWB and Laura, my reward was crowd control duty at the inaugural parade. In truth it was a cluster-f**k and cold as hell but quite the experience nevertheless. We volunteers were able to use our own heads and improvise fairly well but I’ll never forget the knots of hardcore Truth, Peace and Justice types ranting foul-mouthed slogans as the parade went by. They reverted to mindlessly screaming obscenities when the presidential limos passed. At least the streakers I saw were nubile.
I’m betting that the Kos Kidz, Code Pinkos and Gays will be wanting to give Obama (King of Kings, King of Lands, Seas and Sky, May He Live Forever!) just as hard a time for not measuring up to their wet dreams. What I want is to see how indulgently they are handled under “O’s” reign compared with the evil Bushitler. They may be in for a rude awakening.
Hello to beautiful New Zealand!
Just for your edification- American’s aren’t OWNED. I can promise you I am not!
Obama might be the TEMPORARY head of this country( or fate might deign otherwise- he isn’t President yet, and being President doesn’t mean staying President).
No President has ‘owned’ us, and none will.
If that is what Mr. Hussein and the rest of the world thinks, stand by for a real surprise.
Pray for a blizzard BEFORE inauguration day. That'll keep the crowd away from the parade route and the Mall and may reduce their numbers.
On the chance that we have several million storm refugees in the area I'm buying about $10,000 worth of bottle water which will be available at the intersection of I95. I495. I395, Keenemill and Rolling Roads for $5 per bottle.
Warm blankets and plastic raincoats suitible for camping out under culverts and overpasses in the Mixing Bowl are tentatively priced at $500 ~ CASH, no credit cards, no checks please.
One of my treasured pictures is of George W. Bush standing on the mound at Yankee Stadium after 9/11.
A real man, standing up before America. Showing his courage.
