The intense scrutiny of "voter intent" resumed today by the five-member board charged with directing Minnesota's recount in the U.S. Senate race between incumbent Republican Norm Coleman and Democratic rival Al Franken, and the day's rulings turned the challenger's slight deficit into a triple-digit lead.
Also today, the State Canvassing Board sidestepped the Coleman team's proposal to prevent as many as 150 ballots from being counted twice. Talking about instances when a ballot couldn't be run through a voting machine, requiring a duplicate to be made, the Coleman camp said that such ballots should be counted only if an original could be matched with its copy.
However, board members ruled that the duplicates should not be addressed by the board but in "another forum," said Board Chairman Mark Ritchie. But it will consider the ballots if there are questions about the intent of the voters who cast them, the board said.

I fear that our country my descend into that if things keep on going the way they have been...
The left wants to turn America into Latin America.
You would think that in the age of the Internet it would be fairly easy. Though if things deteriorate any more people may be more focused.
It would cost serious money to organize and publicize a tax revolt successfully. The internet is one tool that could be used, but by itself, it's a total random, scatter-shot approach.
Liberals know all about intentions. Theirs are always good and ours are always bad.
And, he was all for these bailouts right from the get-go. Saying he was for the bailouts before he had the chance to read the bill!!!
God help us if that phony wins a senate seat in NY.
And yes, I live in NY.
There's only one problem with our constitution, it is unenforceable.
Pawlenty has shown himself to be a lightweight. This is good information to know for 2012, even though he was never on my short list.
I don't agree. Such talk occurs only among a very small minority of people, and no amount of effort by that minority to convince millions to join in an armed revolt would be successful; 1776 will never come again.
The vast, vast majority of people are complacent followers. They are go-along-to-get-along types who want to be law-abiding. It's what government and, for that matter, a civil society counts on.
Armed revolt is an adolescent-level pipe dream. A tax revolt, on the other hand, is doable with enough money to organize and fund the necessary huge public outreach, and the right leadership to put out a convincing message.
You better move to the South or Texas, because that’s the only areas that will have Republicans in 20 years.
It’s not how many votes that are cast it’s how many votes are counted.
And now Franken leads and they are ready to send him to Washington based upon thousands of fraudulent absentee ballots.
THERE WERE MORE VOTES COUNTED THAN VOTERS IN 25 PRECINCTS!!!
Are the good conservative Minnesotans going to allow this fraud to stand to overturn this election for Franken the Fraud???
How can this possibly be acceptable in the ethical and moral state of Minnesota I used to vacation and fish my summers away.
I am absolutely appalled!!!
