I sure wish more of the foods I eat and basic goods I need to survive were made nearby, by people I know and trust.

I’ve always felt a bit insecure knowing most of these essentials will not be available to me and my family should any part of the complex supply chain be interrupted.

I buy local whenever possible. I may pay more, and it may not be the most efficient use of resources, but the security of knowing at least some basic needs can procured from people whom you trust... is priceless.

Start buying extra bags of beans, cans of soup. Get on ebay and look up "MRE", buy as much as you can afford, and keep buying.

A fifty pound bag of rice, 50 pounds of beans, some seasoning, garlic powder, and onion flakes or powder are cheap “food” insurance to start.
