OTTAWA — Paul Anka’s wife was arrested after the Ottawa-born singer was cut in the head by a piece of ice during a recent domestic dispute, but prosecutors say they won’t pursue the case.
Anka was struck during an argument with his wife, Anna Anka, after an ice bucket fell to the floor on Nov. 28, according to the gossip website tmz.com. Anka went to the hospital, where he received stitches.
When Anka returned home, his wife was gone and he reported her missing to the police. After she returned to the couple’s home in Thousand Oaks, just outside Los Angeles, police arrested her for felony domestic battery, the website said.
The Ottawa-born singer told tmz.com: “It was a stupid little event. It was nothing.” He does not intend to press charges.
Anka could not be reached for comment Saturday, but he spoke to his cousin, Donald Abraham, about it.
“It’s an unimportant event that has been blown up out of proportion. That’s his view,” said Abraham, a real-estate agent in Ottawa.
He said he spoke Friday with Anka after news of the incident broke over several gossip websites and said that Anka did not have much else to add.
“They’re fine really,” said Abraham, adding that in his recent conversations with Anka the incident hasn’t come up at all.
The Ventura County district attorney’s office rejected the case, although it didn’t explain the reasons for dropping it, according to tmz.com.
Anka, 67, and his wife, Anna, 37, have been together for about four years. They are the parents of a boy, Ethan, and she has a daughter, Elli, from a previous marriage. The couple were married in July in a romantic ceremony in Sardinia.

I suspect your answer is the correct one.
She might have been “not guilty” when she was 18, but at the obvious age of about 50, she is guilty.
Why? Anka is a talented and popular musician for the ages.
Merely an expression. I liked his singing.

Speaking of bad pictures - my husband and I went on a short cruise on the General Jackson yesterday. They made “surprise candid” photos (and sold them later for twenty bucks) of us before we boarded. Ours turned out so bad that he had to buy the things just to get them out of circulation. At 63 and 65, great photos are few and far between.
