Carol is a good journalist as are their whole team, most local stations KHQA have pretty tight standards.

Remember you aren’t dealing with a MSM outfit here - this is a local operation. Carol is a Democrat but doesn’t own the station. I imagine she like many does what she’s told to keep her job.
