Not necessarily in this case. Note the reference to the noxious doctrine of 'respect', which is the giveaway. This is Caribbean rap/hiphop culture: and it's this, rather than Islam, which is the dominant influence on underclass street gangs in British cities. Most of these gangs are ethnically heterogeneous and defined by territory, not ethnicity or religion (though sometimes those things coincide).
