I own the same vehicle, and it’s red, too.

I bought it as a work vehicle. It holds all my equipment, gets good mileage (27-29 mpg), has 4wd, handles well, is comfortable, has a good sound system, and is great on long trips.

I bought mine in August, ‘06, and have driven it 95,500 miles. I’m replacing the brake pads today - for the first time.

I take huge exception to my Honda Element being called “gay.”

In high school one of my friend’s dad had three old Subaru’s at their house, if you looked at them you would swear they wouldn’t work no matter how much work you put in them. No matter how long they sat there they would start up on the first try.

Maybe lesbians just know a good deal when they see them.

I don’t associate cars with political movements. I associate cars with reliability, fun, and utility. I’ve driven what I can afford and what was available.

I’m a diehard conservative. I have a 1998 Dodge truck and just bought a 2009 Dodge Challenger. My brother, a flaming liberal, has a Toyota Sequoia and a Kia Speck (Spectra, I think it is). Go figure.

'06 Chevy Colorado pick-um-up truck here. And yes it is kind of fancy. 4WD satellite phone, XM radio, bedliner and extended cab. 1st pick up I ever owned that has a back seat, and I've owned a lot of pick ups.

I am thinking about buying one of those Smart cars. I'll put it in the bed of my truck in case I run out of gas, or have a flat, plus that extra weight in the rear will keep me from sliding around on the ice and snow.

The ‘302’ is one of the most common sized engines from the Ford market for the past 10+ years...

Yeah, I know. I actually like to buck the trend. I am VERY conservative, yet hang out with very liberal people and groups. There is a part of Seattle called Capitol Hill that is our little slice of Gay San Francisco. We love to have ice cream at Dicks there. Whenever we drive there in the Scion I joke to my wife that the car feels as though it is “home” whenever we go there. ;)

Before the election I loved to drive past “liberal” scions (bumper stickers gave them away) and they would smile or wave as I drove by (it is a bit like a brotherhood) and then as I passed they would see the big “Sarah-cuda” sticker on the back.

I was a member of the ultra-liberal Cascade Bicycle club for a long time. I would go on group rides with big lettering on my helmet that said “DITTOHEAD”. It was no small conversation starter. And because they were liberals, and their opinions were steeped in emotion, whenever they started to argue with me it was (actualy “is” would be a more appropriate word) always easy to politely but firmly win arguments with them. Over the years I learned to neither respect liberal opinions nor fear getting into a debate with them. I always win. Always.

I think that is part of it. Another part is that there is nothing feminine about them. :)

I love Subaru. I had one when they were rare and extra ugly.

My girlfriend drives a Subaru Outback and she made a bumper sticker that instead of saying “McCain-Palin” says “Palin-McCain.” She’s as conservative as they come, it’s just that Subaru makes a really good car that works well in the mountains and snow.

In fact it’s almost the most common car in places with a lot of snow like Alaska, Montana, North Idaho and Eastern Washington.

bravo for your girlfriend. It’s simply a fact where I live though (western Wisconsin), that if I see a small car plastered with decals, it’s (1) most likely a Subaru and (2) the stickers will be all lib/leftist slogans.

The same’s true for F-150 and F-250’s (which I’ve owned several of through the years!) if you see an F-series truck it’s sure to be plastered with right-wing bumper stickers.

I know mine was!
