It would be interesting to correlate this sort of thing with the declines in audience for so many of these folks.

Celebrities - most hs dropouts or barely hs graduates - don't get the connection between success and ticking off half the country.

Notice, however, that many were silent since the 2004 election. Some have learned their chosen field is entertainment not political speech. People don't want to see a character they love in movies, on TV, or on stage suddenly turn into a raving pundit especially when said celebrity doesn't know what s/he is talking about.
