That is BS - We had McCain forced upon us by a bunch of liberals who voted in our primaries for the Republican “they” preferred to run against their party.

I don't see how that could be true. The liberals were busy voting in their own very contentious primaries between Hillary and Obama. They didn't have time or interest in wasting their primary votes on our candidates. On the other hand, with Operation Chaos, a number of conservatives decided to switch parties in order to vote for Hillary in the Dem primaries in order to keep the long drawn out Hillary vs. Obama war going.

McCain became our candidate because Huckabee and Romney split the conservative vote between them and McCain came out as the dark horse. That's why so many people really hate Huckabee. They believe that without the Huckster, we would have had Romney instead of McCain. And they might be right in that. I withhold my judgement on this internecine fued between Huckabee and Romney because I supported Ron Paul though I knew that he would probably not win the nomination.

You forget the PUMA's. They were supposed to come out in battalions on Election Day for McCain/Palin. They voted for The One (piss be upon him) anyway.

And your previous post was right. Reagan is dead, and conservatism died with him. All we're seeing is a circular firing squad.

They did it specifically in New Hampshire. The state that allows people to come in from other states, state they "plan" to move to NH and register and vote all in the same day. Between that situation and people who crossed over to vote McCain the die was cast. South Carolina was the Maginot line and they went with the candidate the media was (by then) touting as THE candidate to beat -- John McCain.

If McCain had lost NH, he would never have won SC and Crist and Martinez would have stayed out and not endorsed (as they had previously promised) and we would likely had a completely different outcome in the GOP primary. What I do not understand in this country is how everyone has become a bunch of sheep, going with the candidate the media tells them is likely to win rather than actually researching and voting for the best candidates.

The ONLY good thing to come out of this election was Sarah Palin IMO.

You were obviously not paying attention in New Hampshire when McCain pulled out a win after it looked like his campaign was over. It was the liberals (who already thought they had a candidate) who crossed over who determined who won in NH. After that the libs were doing their own “undeclared” version of Operation Chaos - trying to set up Republicans with someone who could not win. And they did.
