I can't speak for anyone else, but being Jewish, I've never been offended by someone saying “Merry Christmas” to me. If it's a stranger that doesn't know I'm Jewish, why should I be offended. And I'm not offended when someone who DOES know I'm Jewish says “Merry Christmas.” I happen to like going to Christmas parties.

...and that exactly the same reaction that my Jewish friends have.

So who exactly is really complaining on religious grounds?

I am not Jewish, however I have no problem with stores/individuals saying BOTH “Merry Christmas, and Happy Hannuka, or just Happy H?), anyway it’s when I hear “Happy Holidays” that is irk me-it’s as if these corporate jerks are only thinking about their bottom line rather than the true meaning of this season!! ;O)

So who exactly is really complaining on religious grounds?

People who have an axe to grind with Christians and Christianity. And/or publicity whores.
