I think the article I quoted was written on the Thursday and therefore Friday indicates the next day, ie 7th November.

MV stands for Motor Vessel, just as SS stands for Steam Ship. So in all likelihood MV Alpha Afovos is the same ship as Alpha Afovos.

Afovos is a Greek word (see here)

I will have to go back in the thread to see if I can find where the name of the ship boarded first appeared.

The only mention of the ship Alpha Aforovos I can find is the pdf-file you've already posted. Aforovos appears to be a Spanish and/or Portuguese word.

I would have to agree that Alpha Afovos and Alpha Aforovos seem to be two different ships. Wonder if Lloyds Shipping register is open to the public?
