As an old conservative I want to say that your position reminds me of the army of young conservatives back in the 1970’s who believed in Ronald Reagan and only got stronger as the Rinos and MSM grew more and more vicious and irrational in their hatred of RR. No one I knew was so out of touch that they were promising to undermine any candidate who dared challenge the anointed one, as sparky just did in the post you replied to.
We were behind Reagan because we thought he could lead us out of the hall of shame that Carter had led us into, and we were right, he did. We did not worship the man as some sort of demigod who's primary opponents were the physical manifestation of blaspheme against our one man religion. There is ZERO similarity between the Palin phenomenon and Reagan's ascendancy.
