NEW YORK (Hollywood Reporter) - After 12 years at Fox News Channel and four decades in the news business, Washington managing editor Brit Hume will leave "Special Report" and daily journalism for a quieter life, spending time with his grandchildren and following his Christian faith (the anchor still will contribute to the network as a political analyst).
Hume, 65, talked about the demands of the job and how his succession should be handled.

Brief interview with Brit Hume. I will miss his tough, substantive, fair and balanced reporting. Godspeed, Brit, and thanks for your work.

Good luck to Brit, he deserved it. On the other hand, Fox is starting to lean left so the timing is good.

Can’t say I blame him. He’s earned his retirement. After a while enough is enough.

Good luck to him. He came out with some very odd stuff in the last days of the election campaign, but he’s done great work over the years.

Best of luck to Hume.
Seems 2009 will be an interesting year for FNC.

Poor man probably couldn’t stomach the idea of covering four years of an Obama administration.

It will be very telling to see who Fox selects as Brit’s successor. Special Report is the only program I watch daily, but I won’t if the new host(s?) or revamped format are weak. It will also show us if the network is indeed listing leftward.

I have some friends that work at FNC.
He actually made this decision well over a year ago.

****I was kind of a nominal Christian for the longest time. When my son died (by suicide in 1998), I came to Christ in a way that was very meaningful to me. If a person is a Christian and tries to face up to the implications of what you say you believe, it's a pretty big thing. If you do it part time, you're not really living it.****
Well said.
