I thought we were going to back up the monetary system with Soviet Jewelry, not Global Jewelry.

At least that's what I heard on SNL back in the '70's.

Soviet Jewelry has gone downhill since the days of the Czars. They had some good jewelers to make things for the royal family.

I just hope the Soviet Jewelers weren't mixed up with the Kennedy assassination.

The commies sold off the Tsar’s Faberge eggs many years ago, just like everything else of value they could steal. I remember a TV show a few years ago where they were opening some giant vaults supposedly containing the USSR’s vast store of diamonds. All they found was a bunch of empty envelopes. Pretty funny. IIRC, their “gold reserves” turned out to be painted lead bars.
