BAGHDAD — A female homicide bomber blew herself up near an entrance to the U.S.-protected Green Zone and a bomb tore through a minibus carrying Iraqi government employees in separate attacks on Monday that killed at least 20 people, Iraqi officials said.

A third attack on an Iraqi police patrol in Baghdad killed two civilians, police said.

The violence came as Iraqi lawmakers prepared for a vote Wednesday on a security pact with the United States that would enable American forces to stay in Iraq for up to three more years under strict Iraqi oversight.

In the first attack, a bomb attached to a bus used by the Trade Ministry to ferry employees to work exploded shortly before 8 a.m. in eastern Baghdad, police and hospital officials said on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media.

I heard the bomb near the Green Zone this morning. It shook our building. The Iran-backed terrorists apparently aren't happy about expectations that the SOFA will be signed today.

Obama will fix it.

He’ll talk to them really nicely.

Either that or they have been emboldened by the election of a wishy-washy president owned by code pink.

Fox News!! I LOVE the term “Homocide Bomber” instead of suicide bomber.

Nice.

I just talked to my brother, and asked him if he heard it, he said he had passed the checkpoint and was less than 2 minutes ahead of the blast. He’s due to be home Dec. 8th for a month. It’s weird, whenever he is getting ready to leave or return something like this happens.

LOL - I've got him beat. I'm leaving for R&R in two days and it's been pretty darn calm for a few months until now. Then, I hear that huge BOOM! this morning.

Last time I left here in April was when Mookie Sadr's thugs were bombing the daylights out of us several times a day. A 240mm rocket hit a building about 50 yards from the one I was in the day before I left. When I got to Kuwait on my way out, I heaved a huge sigh of relief.

Your brother and I seem to have a similar curse. :)

Funny, I don’t dwell on the danger when he is there, it does however hit home on the arrival and departure. Stay safe and have a Happy Thanksgiving!

The terrorists will not be able to mount any effective terrorist offensive. They have been utterly defeated.

Oh, we all know that. They're having to use women that they dope up now.

But we still don't like having bombs go off right outside our front door.

And the Iraqis have started to relax and enjoy a normal life. I don't want to see them feeling like they have to scurry behind closed doors again.
