Rejected absentee votes may decide it (Coleman-Franken race)
Star Tribune ^ | 11/22/2008 | PATRICIA LOPEZ

Even as the U.S. Senate race recount forged ahead, both sides are massing their troops in the next battle over piles of disputed ballots. With the U.S. Senate recount still incomplete, attorneys on both sides have already armored up for the next pitched battle: over whether to reexamine thousands of rejected absentee ballots.

The Democrats are in a frenzy. They are running out of fraudulent ACORN votes stashed in the janitor’s closet. How will they ever get Franken into the lead?

Good thing that the recount is fair. When it looked like the absentee ballots might help Coleman, they were rejected. Now that Franken thinks they may help him, they want to count them.

Somehow, some way, the GOP "leadership" needs to tear themselves away from the cocktail parties and put election reform in place. The place to start are the officials that control the election process, usually Sec. of State for each state. It must be made fair and legal. Outside groups like ACORN must be banned, and prosecuted if necessary. Motor voter and early voting were pushed as ways to allow more people to vote, but are ripe with fraud and should be eliminated. Otherwise, we're a banana republic. Heck, we already a foreign born el jeffe 0bama!

I read that MoveOn.org had put in place a few years ago a program called ‘the Secretaries of State’ program. It was created to work on getting as many Dem Sec.’s of State as possible in place before this presidential election. It looks like they were pretty successful.

I've posted this rant before, but here we go:

The place to start is to wipe all voter rolls, every state, county, city, whatever, where ever, period. Every citizen that wishes to vote needs to register EVERY TIME for EVERY election. Have a two month period for registering that ends a month away from the election.

When registering, every citizen needs to provide a photo ID, prove residency, and be rewarded with a voter card with a unique code. Upon reaching the voting booth, we repeat the ID dance, surrender the voter card which is shredded, and vote. Then each voter should recieve a receipt with a code that can verify that person's vote actually recorded correctly.

There should be a 24 hour period where a person votes at his or her designated precinct ONLY. There should be no absentee, early, or any other convenience voting. If a person cares enough to vote, they'll find the time. No assistance voting, and I'm serios, even nursing homes, hospitals, etc. Sucks, but it's the only way.

Military are the only exceptions. Their votes should be allowed even after the 24 hour period, or before, to do away with this disallowing nonsense. THEY count more than anyone else.

I'd also be in large favor of a test before allowing to register. In English. We already ARE a banana republic. This election was stolen. We've had a bloodless (so far)coup and it's still continuing with the fraud vote counting.

I like your points. How do we get action on this? It seems like the only time the GOP hierarchy is even the least bit concerned is when there is blatant fraud like ACORN. That’s way too little too late!

In the abstract, maybe this is the way to go. But, in reality the way you get there is to have your person in the office of Secretary of State.

The left has been better at finding the nitty-gritty actions to put their abstract strategy in place. And having somebody in office with a private agenda tends to get a lot more done than a one time grass roots push.

Do you really want an ACORN type handling the re-registration of everybody? It'd be wise to get a conservative into the office of Secretary of State before you try such a thing.

Of course. That’s the plan. The Democrats will challenge and recount, and challenge and recount, until the Democrat wins. Then the recouunt ceases and they move on to the next battle.

How about working with the governors of each state? Can they be convinced to check on their own state and its laws and ways of voting?

Nevermind that the Constitution specifically states that all states are to vote ON THE SAME DAY (not days)!!!

How is all of this early voting even constitutional?

Excellent idea. I have already emailed my State Representative asking that he introduce a bill that would require the Secretary of State to personally verify the eligibility of a candidate before their name goes on the ballot. For President, this would include personally examining a certified birth certificate.

Actually, the election should be distributed over at least a week, to provide sufficient time for things to be done right.

Your proposal is ridiculous (for one thing, the military are our servants, not out masters, and therefore may not be permitted any special privileges denied to civilians).
