I keep wondering what is making her do this. I think she would be more viable politically to stay where she is and take a run at another office, like NY Gov. This seems like a totally illogical move for her, a move which will close off her Presidential ambitions for all time.

I don't think there has been a former SecState to be elected President since James Buchanan.

This is a loser move for Her Hilariousness.

The only way it makes sense is if it helps her be aggrieved and thus clear to run a renegade campaign in 2012.

Otherwise I don’t see what she gets out of it that’s better than her future in the senate.

Me too. IMO, she has thrown in the towel on being President. The thought of another 8 yrs as the junior Senator from NY has her in a depression..She wants to DO something, make her mark, etc. Like a dog.

As much as I hate to say this, I think she is seeing a two term presidency, and knows she will be too old to run then. Hence, she will try to make her mark as SoS. After all, she has very little seniority in the Senate. It would take years for her to get a lot of clout there.
