We have gone through the first round of internal recriminations with the recent excoriation of Governor Palin by those unnamed McCain staffers. But, as we all know, Gov. Palin was the subject of heated debate even among Republicans long before the election. One common complaint was that she was the "worst" VP candidate pick "ever." But, was she really?
A look at recent history can only serve to deflate that ridiculous claim. There have been far worse picks than Gov. Palin and only the extremely emotional state of mind that this past election ginned up could obscure the historical record. Two of those picks in particular make Palin's choice rather inspired by comparison.
In the first case George Wallace's pick of general Curtis LeMay for his vice presidential pick in 1968 was a disaster and in the second George McGovern's pick of Thomas Eagleton for his in 1972 was even worse -- both were far more disastrous than Palin's. There was some speculation in the media that Palin would suffer Eagleton's fate, but the situations of the two just don't bear any resemblance at all...

Palin would have been much better if she had been a better speaker. She spoke in a way that made her sound as if she shouldn’t be taken seriously.
Personally, I loved who she was and what she stood for, but she didn’t come across as being presidential.
Oh you bad.....
I really struggled to vote at all.
And that passes for a witticism in your ward, I assume.

I always thought she was a terrible pick for V.P.
She would have been better as President.

Sort of like asking if Alexander was the worst military commander of all time.
Dude!!!! we are above that nonsense!!!!
Oh that’s hilarious.... I ought to mention this to my liberal family members at Thanksgiving but I think there would be a food fight.
LOL
The Republicans had a lot stacked against them in this particular election. I think it could rather be said, they lost, despite Palin. I did not think she was ready to be President, but then, she was far more ready than Obama.
I also wonder how much Curtis Lemay cost Wallace. The more I read about him in the article the more I liked him. The attributes they were assigning him as negative all seemed like positives to me. How can one be a warmonger when there is already a war? It seemed to me he was going to end the war in Vietnam by fighting war as war should be fought.
There has rarely been a better pick than Palin.
Sheesh. The election was over two weeks ago and the scumbags are still writing about Sarah Palin?
She got me more excited to vote. I would have voted for McLame anyway, just because of Barry, but Palin made it seem like it was worthwhile.
I only voted for one of four names on that Ballot and it was not Biden, Obama, or McLame. It was Sarah. And if the MSM does not get this i no longer give a damn because if we dont take back the conservative roots of this party I will go elsewhere.
Freegards to the Republic
Lex
NOT NO BUT HELL N0
LOL
ROTFL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Her acceptance speech was a TOTAL KO and her debate was good also. But in the off moments I thought she could use some tutoring. She hasn't had the years of getting herself polished so she could climb the ladder. She's a natural who just needs a small amount of help in her presentation. IMHO
Right on, Sarah.

Could we see a list of ALL VP picks?
