This guy is discussed in Novak's column today as the originator of the entire current "bailout" process going back to Bear Stearns in the spring..... he requires some SERIOUS scrutiny -- according to Novak, this Geithner character originated the whole plan outside of the Treasure Dept. and got Paulson & co. to go along..... and now he turns out to be Obama's pick for Secy. of the Treasury??
I'm not partial to toooo many conspiracy theories, but everything that has happened in economic policy needs to be re-examined in relation to Geithner, i.e., has he been pulling any strings and/or pushing into place any policies that benefitted Obama's candidacy??
It sure was strange how suddenly the whole "meltdown" them took over the Presidential campaign in mid-Sept. and drowned out everything else that McCain/Palin tried to do.

Oh, a wild guess. An attempt to get a wide range of Dems (Hillary and crew) on his side with the Birth Certificate issue looming on his horizon. An attempt to help fend off the possibility of having an illegitimate administration because of his possible foreign origin.
Only thing you can count on here is that the Rio Grande Machine will be in this clear past their ears, even if they have to cheat to do it.

Way to go 0bama! Put a guy that has no business or economics experience, education, or basic competence in charge of Commerce, and especially at a time when we need someone who is at least slightly competent.

Hillary to the State Dep’t means a new senator in NY state. That’s a good thing, because pretty much the only rival candidate who has beaten her is Obama.

First thing on his ageneda is making deals with the drug lords on the American Mexican border. Thats what commerce secretarys do, no?

1. Fat Billy promoted the Concealed Carry law we have, and he made sure it was reciprocal with other states.
2. Fat Billy encouraged a lot of business to locate into the state, especially aircraft and aeronautical companies. He does know how to build the tax base.
Then he goes and blows it on that stupid railroad. What a folly. I came up from Albuquerque the other day and they are running that stupid thing up the middle of I-25 on the south side of Santa Fe. Who else could run a freaking railroad up the middle of a Federal Interstate Highway?
I wonder if Al Gore or Kerry get anything.
He supports the Columbia trade agreement.
