I don't know about generations, but I did find this interesting article:
http://www.boston.com/news/politics/2008/specials/romney/articles/part1_side_2/
I wonder how many people are aware of this?
Mormon church obtained Vietnam draft deferrals for Romney, other missionaries
****
Lets put this into perspective
This is consistentin in all avenues with the Church one should not go to school or get married, receive scholarship or even if recruit for professional sports, the Church encourage the young LDS men to go on a mission first.

That may be, but the fact that military service does not appear to be important to Romney and his family is something to consider when electing a Commander in Chief.
Excellent!
This is ridiculous one is serving at the arm of flesh, and the other is serving st the arm of the Lord, both are important in this temporal world.
Also there are many who ran for Commander in Chief who never served.
Many of you did not have a this same attitude with Fred Thompson who was going to school and than proceeded to launching his career.
BTW I like Fred and I don’t hold it against him!
and in the course of time there are many other presidents who did not serve.
Also there are many who ran for Commander in Chief who never served.

Here are a couple of things to think about. How many of Romney's sons have served? Did his father or grandfather serve?
Under Reagan, the party accepted and welcomed Moderates where it was necessary to build a governing majority. Reagan coined the famous “my 80% friend is not my 20% enemy” quote, and sought the advice of all Republicans, even the Moderates. But Reagan made it clear - the Party would be Conservative, the Platform would be Conservative, and they would govern as Conservatives.
What we have now is different. We obviously still need some semblance of “Big Tent” Republicanism. Rush Limbaugh cannot win in Vermont, for example, and we cannot have a governing majority by just owning most of the Senate and House seats in red states. But the command of the party is what is very different now. Open primaries, et al, are taking away the ability to nominate truly Conservative leadership. Moderates are demanding not a seat at he table, but to have the dinner moved to their house under their rules. Saboteurs look to blame Conservatives at every turn in the hopes of creating a more Socially/Morally/Culturally/Gun Liberal party whose only purpose is Fiscal Conservatism (sometimes) and National Defense. Giuliani Republicanism is the lord of the GOP Press, and the media GOP who worship him for reducing crime in NYC. They see him as the shining example (See Will, National Review, Hannity, etc.), and now think his mold is the one to cast over and over again.
Rush is right (and I was shouting about this to every Freeper who griped about McCain winning the nomination) - step one is to fix the primaries so that Republicans choose the Republican nominee. This will guarantee a more authentically Conservative candidate; and it is a step we can actually TAKE to improve the process.
Step two is to make it known that, while we accept the necessity of some Moderates in our Party, the majority of this party is and will be Conservative. We do not take kindly to being told by the party minority that the majority needs to dump its bread-and-butter issues to accommodate them and their vision of victory which fails for Republicans every time on a national scale. The Party is Conservative, and will seek to govern conservatively; you are welcome, your advice is welcome, and you may have a seat at the table - but you may not take over. We accept that you may be Pro-Choice; and so too must you accept that the Party is Pro-Life. We will not demand you change your Pro-Choice position as a rare GOP Senator of a blue state, but you must not demand that the red party change its position, either. A seat at the table waits for you, but not the throne.
Reagan truly had it right - a big tent party that Governs as Conservatives. Let's get back to it ASAP.
You are only making this an issue because you have very few places to go to fault find.
It is all this fault finding that has gotten this nation into the fix we are in and good people do not want to run for office.
It is the minds like this that have given fodder to the to Marxist to undermind this nation especially the conservative movement.
Many ways there are many who try to make themselves feel good, going around and fault find thinking trying to tear down another will some how magnify their own self worth on this planet.

What does the above have to do with my post? Has any member of Romney's family ever served in the military?
No facts allowed..you're on a "Mitt" thread!
Getting your lesson for the day.

as I stated before which you continue to want ignore
some serve the arm of flesh, and the other serve the arm of the Lord, both are important in this temporal world.
Eph 6
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
some serve the arm of flesh, and the other serve the arm of the Lord, both are important in this temporal world.

I'm sorry, but while that may be admirable, it doesn't inspire confidence in a candidate for Commander in Chief. Nor does a family history and attitude of denying the importance of military service.

You assign intent just because to you, they did not serve in the Military.
There are about 3 hundred million people in the US and only a small fraction served in the Veitnam which was never decleared a war.
To me this is all speculation and continuing the same kind of attitude that most fo the contry has today.
Please ponder this behavior of today where there is endless faultfinding and infighting among our selves loosing track that we are to be a nation that is suppose to be America First.
We are eating our own and Reagan warn against this in his 11th commandments.
“Thou shalt not speak ill of any fellow Republican”
The scriptures warn against faulfinding and gossip they are very distructive forces and tools of the Prince of Darkness.
We torn apart and torn down so much to the point where we ended up with McCain who refuse to win.
We are eating our own and Reagan warn against this in his 11th commandments.

Not just to me, but in fact they did not serve in the military.
Reagan's 11th commandment in this case is irrelevant; Romney can not win. Worse than speaking ill of another Republican is nominating a losing candidate.
Not just to me, but in fact they did not serve in the military.

Somehow you still refuse to see the bigger picture Military is not a calling for everyone and this is evident when only a fraction did serve.
so many here still fishing trying to make an issue towards those and hold double standars for those who you don’t care for!
Thompson did not serve either!
You are not God and neither am I who of us has any right to imposed ours temporal views when we do not know the total picture fo why any of us are walking the we walk during certain events in the universe
I understand. Not the first time I have seen it attributed to Jefferson eiither.
Military service is a HUGE plus for Republican candidates.
I truly wish our military could elect the Commander in Chief ~ those who are putting their lives on the line.
They are fighting for US.

Voters have a right to decide whether a candidate's lack of military service is an issue for them. Voters have a right to make judgments about all kinds of issues.
It is fair and wise of voters to consider Romney's choices and actions throughout his life, as they would any other candidate.
