Mitt Romney Takes on Detroit

By Garance Franke-Ruta

The race for 2012 is already on in the Republican Party, and today failed 2008 contender Mitt Romney appeared to take a stand sure to complicate any future presidential bid. In an op-ed bluntly titled, "Let Detroit Go Bankrupt," the former Massachusetts governor argued against the automobile salaries and pension systems that have for decades helped define the good life in industrial Michigan, where Romney won the GOP primary this winter and where his father was once governor.

Obama is not a Trojan Horse, and he can be battled honestly and openly. You are foolish enough -- I believe it is primarily because you are a WOMAN first and an American second, a woman silly enough to even think twice about, let alone buy wholesale, the "wardrobe expense" hooey about Palin, catty catty catty -- to overlook the many flaws in Romney's actions.

RomneyCare was a complete betrayal of conservative principles I hold dear. His flip-flops on abortion are less of a concern to me because there is a chance (which becomes slighter the more you actually honestly appraise Romney the man) that his conversion was genuine. But this was the final straw, rodeo-mamma, and you who claim to love children so much and are so indignant that Palin is "neglecting her baby," should be outraged against Romney and completely reject him forever more. That was his official endorsement while governor of a "Gay Youth Pride" event at a MIDDLE SCHOOL!!! A junior high school! As if the government has any business at all dealing with the declared sexual orientation of minors, let alone endorsing it, endorsing sexual activity -- PERVERTED SEXUAL ACTIVITY -- of children!!! These poor, confused, messed-up kids who aren't even old enough to drive, who because of popular pressures or troubled homes or confused messages or whatever it may be, decide that they're homosexual -- AND YOUR GUY ROMNEY IN ESSENCE SAID OFFICIALLY: I THINK IT'S JUST GREAT THAT YOU KIDS ARE DOING THIS.

You had better think seriously before you again prattle on about how Sarah Palin is "neglecting her baby" when the man you are so hot to advocate has done something ten million times worse to children. His doing so was wholly wicked and craven.

Are you conservative? I agree with Doctor Laura. I don’t like double standards. The reason the founding fathers didn’t want to give women the right to vote is because they didn’t want us in politics. They knew that women like Palin would try to exploit their feminine appeal to get votes. They didn’t want that. They wanted men for noble reasons to run the country. They didn’t want games. I’m glad that women get to vote, but looking at Palin, I can understand why they didn’t want us involved.

There is a reason Adams and the rest of the Founders advised against giving the vote to women and those under 21, not to mention non freeholders.

Oh Phaleeeeeese! I bet you don’t like Mormon’s either

Ann Coulter viciously derided Fred Thompson, the only viable major Conservative candidate, and fell in love with a fraud. Tancredo is a Judas who was paid off for his “endorsement” and stabbed Duncan Hunter in the back. Why don’t you read up on Slick Willard’s REAL record and on his disguting backstabbing antics of the GOP & Conservatives during his political career. He’s nothing but lying liberal scum and a Democrat agent.

No, it’s all I need to know to understand that Ann Coulter has some major flaws.

You engage in vile personal attacks on Gov. Palin. You repeat the same liberal talking points of the media, the Democrats and the Slick Willard spambots. You are a troll.

He’s dead on regarding this issue.

Romney is right. There is no way we can have an automotive industry with the unions suckling the way they are. Bankruptcy is the only way to uncouple the union contracts with the big three and start again.

Wow, and a ignorant, sexist troll, too. Yup, gotta get Palin back to the house so she can be barefoot and get her menfolk din-din. Can’t have her making important decisions, no suh. Oh, and btw, if you ARE a woman, you ought to be even more ashamed of your despicable anti-woman diatribes. You sound like a Mohammadan.

“and he would have been a worse nominee, even worse for the Republican party future, than McCain.”

All of you sound like stealth McCain trolls, and that statement proves it.

Replying to a fool is making a fool of me, but really rodeo-mamma, you don’t even know the difference between a woman with strong opinions on child-rearing, and true conservatism. You don’t even know the difference. And you don’t know the difference between an enabler of open normalization of homosexuality and a conservative. I don’t think you’re a troll because I know you’ve been a FReeper for along time. I think you’re just a person who is silly because she lets her estrogen have more say in her reactions than logic. Hence the reason I’d willingly give up my right to vote to keep women like you from voting for phony “big daddy” frauds like Romney ... and Clinton, come to think of it. He would never have won in a million years without the women’s vote.

You are thinking short-term. Short term, he would only have been slightly less worse than Obama. Long term, with regard to the Republican party’s future, he would have been MUCH WORSE. If you can’t think long-term, that’s fine — but you’re weak and wimpy pulling the “you’re a troll” card. When in doubt, accues the poster of being a troll. Right.

Fred Thompson never even bothered to attack his BFF John McCain. I was too high on him to realize it at the time, but his only goal seemed to be to get his good friend the nomination.

Sorry, but I’m going to trust Ann, who is as conservative as it gets. She was right all along.

And, again, John McCain, who hates conservatives with a passion, went after Romney because he believes in *GASP* making a profit. Use some logic.

Sorry, dude. Ann jumped the shark with her endorsement of a slick, sleazy, flipflopping Socialist. You’d think somebody who so gleefully exposed Bubba could recognize a clone/trojan horse rodent in the GOP, but apparently she turned into one of those crazed kneepad supporters we lampooned in the ‘90s. What a shame.

The reason why Anne had such a problem with Fred was because he didn’t vote to remove Clinton from office. She stated that it was very easy for Fred to be a conservative, he was elected by a conservative State, yet he still failed to uphold a very basic duty as a conservative, which was to ultimately hold Clinton accountable. By contrast, she said that Romney had a much more difficult job of being a fiscal conservative in a very liberal state, he did his job much better then Fred did his under the circumstances. Looking back and after doing some research, I will tell you why I think Fred didn’t do his job, when he was elected by a conservative state, it would have been very easy for him to remove Clinton, with no political fall out at all, the guy was being blackmailed, that’s right you heard me. Now deal with it. It’s only obvious, there is no other explanation. It explains his departure from politics, it explains why all of a sudden he decided to settle down, and it also explains why his heart wasn’t in it when he ran, he was just doing his buddy McCain a favor. The truth hurts, but someone had to tell you. It all makes sense.

“When in doubt, accues the poster of being a troll.”

I *do* question the motives of anyone who would even slightly defend John McCain.

You want to attack Romney? Fine. But don’t use it to lift up McCain from the bottom of the barrel where he belongs. I think many anti-Romney folk are just McCain trolls looking desperately for a way to lift him up from the bottom. I will expose anyone who tries.

There is nothing flip-flopping about realizing that you were wrong. You want to win back your country or not? Then keep repeating that people who realize that they were wrong are nothing more then sleazy flip floppers. With that attitude, the conservative base will continue to shrink as they die off. Don’t expect to convert anyone with that kind of judgemental rhetoric. Expect your country to be taken over by despots as lost people are driven into their arms by the intolerance of the likes of you.
