In the absence of audience interruptions Mr. Dyson had and argument anyway with the scores of people like Al Gore who weren`t present to defend their belief in the dire consequence of global warming . ("There`s no accounting for human folly", Mr .Dyson said when asked of Mr.Gore`s Nobel prize.) Saying on a recent trip he and his wife found Greenlanders to be delighted with their warmer climate and increased tourism, Mr.Dyson suggested that representing "local warming by a global average is misleading."
In his comments to both the Nassua Club and Labyrinth, he decried the use of computer modeling to make "tremendously dogmatic" predictions about world wide trends, without acknowledging the "messy, muddy real world" and the non climatic effects of increased carbon dioxide."There is no substitute for widely constructed field operations over a long period of time." he told the Nassua Club audience, citing the "enormous gap in knowledge and sparseness of observation" that characterize the work of global warming experts.
"When science becomes rich, it becomes political."

In case you don`t know, Freeman Dyson is virtually an unimpeachable source on matters of science.
I wonder if he is the brother of mega-moron Michael Eric Dyson (or is it Eric Michael, I forget)?
I’m all for reasonable measures to assure environmental responsibility and cleanliness upon the earth, but using theories such as “global warming” or “climate change” to grab political power over people and their money I’m against. - At first, the Goreites were calling it “global warming”, but when it seemed that everywhere Gore traveled in the world, he was amusingly followed by freezing temperatures, snowstorms and outright blizzards, they changed the name to “climate change”. . . . sigh.
A good book that also debunk global warming is RED HOT LIES
He DOES believe that it would be a good idea to curtail CO2 emissions however, for various other reasons. He is certainly, as I am, against the Global Warming Hype and Religion (tm).
AFAICS, this is the first thing he has gotten even close to correct in a long time. He is dead wrong on evolutionism.
Freeman Dyson is the co-developer of Quantum Electrodynamics in the late 1940s (along with Richard Feynman, Julian Schwinger, and Shinichiro Tomonaga). The other three were awarded the Nobel Prize for the work, but only three people can share the same prize. He also worked on the Orion project in the 50s and early 60s to develop a nuclear rocket.
He is the father of Esther Dyson, the technology writer, and George Dyson, a somewhat less well-known science writer.
I thought he was the black science guy on PBS...never mind. Thanks.
“Trouble arises when either science or religion claims universal jurisdiction, when either religious or scientific dogma claims to be infallible. Religious creationists and scientific materialists are equally dogmatic and insensitive. By their arrogance they bring both science and religion into disrepute. The media exaggerate their numbers and importance. The media rarely mention the fact that the great majority of religious people belong to moderate denominations that treat science with respect, or the fact that the great majority of scientists treat religion with respect so long as religion does not claim jurisdiction over scientific questions” -Freeman Dyson
Poor Mr Dyson fails to understand that there is neither 'moderate' salvation, nor 'moderate' Hell.
As Rush Limbaugh so often says, "there is no virtue in moderation."
