My best friend in high school was, at the time, the oldest of 12. Her mother went on to have five more. After the birth of the 17th, the doctor, without asking, removed her uterus. He said it was hemoraging. Mom was heartbroken. But it was a wonderful home to visit. The two oldest boys and their dad built rockets in the attic of their little three bedroom home. After my friend left home, they moved out to a bigger place in the country and there they built a small hanger and then an airplane. The ones in the middle were the ones I worried about. They were little when there were lots of kids but no older ones to take up the slack. The littlest ones had several moms to take care of them.

Where do you get your information? How do you know the Gosslins are millionaires. You make some harsh statements about this family and Maddy in particular - who are you to judge? If you don’t like what you see, change the channel.

Where do you get your information? How do you know the Gosslins are millionaires.

What we do know is that (a) the Gosselins are professionally managed by Hollywood agents, (b) the Gosselins are the stars of the second-highest rated show on their network and (c) the Gosselins also do compensated speaking tours at churches around the country.

It seems highly unlikely that a couple with a professional agent would get less than $50,000 per episode. A single supporting cast member on a lower-rated network sitcom usually makes more than that.

So, at an absolute minimum, the Gosselins will be making $1.3 million dollars this season alone in cash. Add in the promotional freebies that the show's sponsors give them, plus the money from their speaking tours, their cut of the DVD sales and of the merchandise, their total take this year in cash and goods should approach $2 million at the very least.

Materially, they are doing very well - especially living in a town where the median annual income for a family is $52,000 - or about what they make a week.
