Not living in a banana republic neighborhood,here in the city unless you consider high rise condos starting at 1 million a unit on up and homes in 2 million on up range.
Large European population and mainly professionals.

San Diego also has the largest concentration of military in the U.S.
As far as the large gay population in my neighborhood, don’t like their life style but most are professionals some are military.

With the cost of living and taxes in Kalifornia (notwithstanding the 30% of the population are criminals in most major cities; aka, illegal aliens), and the cost of housing being about twice what the same dwelling costs in flyover country, one can choose to live in such neighborhoods. I prefer the freedom of large spaces, without fear for my life at night or that of my family, and enjoy land that is sold by the acre, not by the square foot.

To each his own, but, no thanks, running a business that's viable in any locale, it is much more comfortable to live where you know your neighbors.....and can trust them when you're away.
