Greg Craig Selected as White House Counsel

By Michael D. Shear and Anne E. Kornblut President-elect Barack Obama has chosen Washington lawyer Gregory B. Craig, who served as President Bill Clinton's lead attorney during the 1998 impeachment proceedings, to be his White House counsel, according to an individual involved with the transition.

Craig has been a longtime adviser to former president Clinton and Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, but became a close adviser to Obama during the campaign, reportedly serving as the stand-in for Sen. John McCain during debate preparations.

Transition officials declined to comment, and Craig did not return calls left on his machine.

Craig was a foreign policy adviser to Sen. Edward M. Kennedy and Secretary of State Madeleine Albright. He has defended high-profile clients, including John Hinckley Jr., who attempted to assassinate President Ronald Reagan, and Kennedy nephew William Kennedy Smith, who was accused of rape.

Wow. The more things “change” the more they remain the same.

If this ends up being Clinton redux, I expect a lot of Obama’s base to be infuriated. I wonder how long until we hear “Uncle Tom”?

Craig Livingstone was re-hired back onto the White House staff, too, but no one knows who hired him ;-)

Can you imagine the howls if a republican was picked who had defended someone for trying to kill a democrat President?

Obama has no discernible skills or experience for this position (other than reading a teleprompter). It is obvious that someone else is writing the script.

He is hiring mostly Clinton people. Could it be the Clintons are the ones pulling the strings on the presidential puppet?

This is the scumbucket who arranged for Elian Gonzalez to return to Cuba. Elian had to undergo much ‘deprogramming’ at the Wye Plantation, interacting with other kids from his Cuban school class. I was disgusted at the time the we, the taxpayers, were footing the bill to convince a little boy that Communism was good. Now we have the 0bamas who will do their best to convince the masses that Socialism is good. Just one step away from Communism.

He was glad to represent John Hinckley.

Think about that without getting mad.

This prick is a typical washington lawyer/whore.

More change !!

During the primaries I thought the only benefit of Obama winning would be we would have a new cast of characters in DC instead of the endless line of sleazebags that populated the Clinton Administration. So now we got worst of both Dem options. Looooooooong four years ahead.

My uneducated guess on this premise: They won't. They'll crash Obama hard so they can get back in in 2012.

This is an uneducated guess; I put no stock behind it.
