;)
Hi all,
I’ve been lurking on all of these threads and have finally decided to take action. I read earlier that letters would have the most influence on the Supremes, so I wrote one. I’m sending it off to the Chief and if anybody would like to use it as a template feel free. I suppose if someone wanted to use it as-is, that would be OK, but it should probably be prefaced with “I didn’t write this but I agree with it” so that it wouldn’t seem like snail mail spam.
The Supreme’s address is:
The Supreme Court of the United States
One First Street, NE, Washington, DC 20543
Here’s the letter. (Suggestions welcome)
John G. Roberts, Jr.
Chief Justice
United States Supreme Court
Dear Chief Justice Roberts,
I am sure that you are aware of the many actions which are pending in various courts across this country in regard to the question of Barack Obamas citizenship. I initially dismissed the idea that it could be possible that our future president is not a natural born citizen. However, his continued refusal to release his original birth certificate even after the election has convinced me that this claim may indeed have merit. There is no reason I can think of other than his birth being outside of United States territory which would justify his withholding of this information. Any other information, although potentially embarrassing, would not call into question his Constitutional eligibility for office.
I am not an attorney, and I dont have access to all of the relevant statutes in effect in 1961, but what I have read from the legal sites available to me leads me to believe that if Barack Obama was not born on U.S. soil, because of his mothers age and his fathers lack of American citizenship, he may very well not be a natural born citizen. I have seen some more recent statutes that address making the earlier laws equal regarding the gender of the U.S. citizen parent, and these laws are retroactive in some sections, but I dont believe they are retroactive in the sections that deal with the age and years of residence of the citizen parent, only in equalizing the treatment of the mother and father under those statutes.
It may very well be that regardless of where Barack Obama was born, he will be found to be a natural born citizen. As of now, however, the question looms and threatens to unravel the very fabric of our Constitution. I believe the burden of proof is his. Our future president must assure us that he is at least Constitutionally eligible for office. If he was born in Hawaii as has been claimed (as far as I know he has never directly been asked or answered this question) then there is no doubt that he is natural born. If he was born elsewhere, as one of his grandmothers has stated, then there is a Constitutional question that must be answered before Barack Obama can be allowed to take office. The Constitutional requirements are clear and cannot be ignored. If it is found that by relevant statute that Barack Obama is a citizen regardless of where he was born, then that decision must be made or sanctioned by the Supreme Court, because any lesser treatment of this issue would do a disservice to both Barack Obama and our nation.
Please allow the Supreme Court to address this issue.
Thank you very much,
O2
